What to see in Noto

""

The Cathedral of San Nicolò, located in the heart of Noto’s historic center, is one of the town’s most significant landmarks. This stunning Baroque structure, built in the 1700s, has undergone multiple renovations and alterations throughout the years, including the construction of its dome in the 19th century by Cassone. Another notable Baroque building is the Church of Santa Chiara, designed in 1730 by architect Rosario Gagliardi and completed in 1758. Originally attached to a convent of Benedictine nuns, it now houses the civic museum of Noto and offers a panoramic terrace overlooking the former convent of the Poor Clares. Visitors can also explore Corso Vittorio Emanuele, which traverses the historic center and is accessed through the Royal Gate of Noto, a triumphal arch dating back to the 1800s. Finally, don’t miss Palazzo Nicolaci, located on Via Nicolaci, featuring a grand, princely portal and two large columns topped by a balcony adorned with grotesque figures. It is a true gem of Baroque artistry in the historic center of Noto.

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_divider show_divider=”off” _builder_version=”4.9.7″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”][/et_pb_divider][et_pb_text admin_label=”Testo” _builder_version=”4.14.8″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”]
