Continuing on to Piazza Armerina, located in the Erei Mountains, be captivated by the mosaics in the ruins of a Roman noble residence at the Villa del Casale.

Agrigento Excursions: Two Nature Reserves

The most interesting nature stops for tourists involve two nature reserves.
The Foce del Fiume Belice Nature Reserve and adjoining dunes is located between Marinella di Selinunte and the promontory of Porto Palo. Its paths interspersed with small bays, coves and dunes can be traveled on foot, quad bike or by bicycle.
The Foce del Fiume Platani Oriented Nature Reserve, established in 1984 by the Sicilian Region to protect endemic flora and fauna, encompasses 200 hectares of Mediterranean scrubland.
It is an ideal place for hiking and trekking lovers. Among the walkable trails are the Fuggitella, the Capo Bianco Trail and the Foce Trail.
